Superintendent's Corner Spring time weather in Montana is never the same twice. Spring can sometimes look a lot like winter. That certainly was the case this year. The cold temperatures and the off and on snow have prompted a few delays at the Old Works. One of those postponements was keeping carts on cart paths longer this year. Our rough is made up primarily of Fine Fescue and while it handles the heat of summer it does not do well with cart traffic. Grass needs a prolonged period of wet and warmth to begin to grow and thrive. We’ve had the wet, but not the warmth and unfortunately they go hand in hand. And so our rough remains in a state of dormancy. Those were the reasons we decided to hold off on allowing carts off paths. It’s been a long winter and a long spring I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding. I hope to see you out there enjoying Old Works and watch it green up a little more each day. |
